It seriously hurts me to do this, but I'm going to have to paraphrase Hillary Clinton here.

Since when did it become union busting to disagree with this administration?

Some of us want our union to function like the union groups at places where our friends work.

Places like AirTran, Southwest, United, and Delta. Places where the Committees actually accomplish things and inform us about it. Places where the reps comm with their constituents. Places where the union fights for things like OT pay for OT work. Places where the union is accessible to the members. (I had a FO recently complete his probationary year and couldn't contact anyone at the local level to begin his dues check off) Places where the website is actually somewhat up to date regarding committee members and contact numbers. I could go on, but it's Sat morning and I've got other things to do.
Places where the union partners with the company (SWA) in a professional manner (trust but verify) and we all benefit. Places where the union supports pilots and leads them to proper actions vs control by public embarrassment. (note to outsiders - one of our scheduling volunteers accidentally sent a letter out in which he called for one of our more well paid Captains to be "tarred and feathered")
We want our pilot association to function as a "mutual protection society", and to uphold the ALPA Code of Ethics.

And I personally want a far better educated and engaged pilot group. It bears repeating that I would rather have an engaged group that shows up at meetings and gets things done vs a group that changes elected reps like super models change shoes. We CAN do better.
