Apple designs cool products, but it may be the epitome of marketing over substance.
You should be more appreciative of innovators like Apple, after all, your EVO wouldn't even exist without the influence of the original iPhone. As for the 'other platforms have been doing forever', well, that's kind of funny, I've had our pubs on my iPhone for over 2 years. Do I win?
