Good to have info about house windows/doors
I have a window in my house that has a crack in the outside panel of glass and also needed a part for my sliding glass door screen track. I looked at all the normal places and no luck, tried online searching but that didn't help. I mentioned it to a buddy that is a contractor. He told me to look for a sticker on the window (mine was in the jam of the window where the upper window closes) and get the numbers off of it. I had to look at 5 different windows before finding one that still had the sticker (house is 9 yrs old) but found it and got the "Sales Order" number. I took that number and called a local contractor supply house (NOT home depot/lowes) that carries that brand of window. I gave them the number, they called the company who had the order on file and knew every window and door in my house. Moral of the story is I have a new window and the part for my door on the way for free because it was still under warranty. No paperwork on my end and no other info needed. My friend that told me what to do said he does this all the time when he is working on people's houses. I would have never thought of it and wanted to pass along the info.
