Does anyone know exactly what makes the 737-900ER an ER? Is it the same story as our 757-200ER's and 767-300ER's, where they have the redundancy to do extended overwater ops?
I don't know any of the mileages, but could 3200NM get you from JFK to some of the smaller western Europe cities like the 757's are doing now? How about PIT-CDG?
Or does the ER just signify a few AUX tanks that allow it to do on 5 tanks what the -700/800 can do on 3?
Cal had plans to fly it to Europe but never did it for one reason or another. I sure wouldn't want to ride a 737 on routes like that as a passenger.
