Interesting article, but I'll point out the obvious (I have a firm grasp on that)

Southwest has no RJs or "connection" jets
Emirates - ditto
Air Asia - never heard of them, had to google them but I would suggest they are at the same "end of the market" that Qantas is. China has several Southwest wannabes and I don't think I've seen any flying an RJ.

Also, when has an airline CEO had our best interests at heart. They build shareholder value any way they can. It's at the far end of the conspiracy theory, but the perfect airline would be one with a CEO, a marketing department, and a legal department to monitor contracts. No other employees or capital investments.......talk about shareholder value.
