Default Thanks UPS (Freight)

Never thought I'd actually be uttering those words, but after my latest experience with UPS (Freight), I just had to say Bravo Zulu (Good Job!)

Last Thursday, I ordered, via the internet, a very large portable generator. With no tax and free shipping, the cost was about 15% less than I could find a similar unit locally, and that didn't include the fact that locally, because of last weeks' hurricane, there was not a single generator to be had, regardless of size.

After I ordered the unit, I called customer service to ask them how they shipped, and when could I expect the generator. They told me that they would ship that day (last Thursday), via UPS, and I should go on-line to see when UPS would deliver it. Well, I've not had good luck with things arriving via UPS in the past, and when I told the customer service agent this, she said that in fact it was not UPS, but UPS Freight. I was very skeptical until the next morning, when I received a phone call from the UPS Freight folks, telling me that my shipment was en-route and could we set up a date and time to receive it. We set up the date as 9/6 and the time window they needed was 6 hours, so we agreed that noon to 6PM would work.

Today at 5 minutes to noon, up pulled the UPS Freight truck, and before I could get out of the house, the driver had unloaded the 400 pound generator and was wheeling it towards my garage. After we brought it inside, he and I unwrapped it and inspected it for problems. When we found none, I signed his receipt and thought he'd leave immediately. But that was not the case. He helped me undo all the strapping and even helped lift the unit up so that I could put a pallet under it. Then we shot the bull for perhaps another 10 minutes.

Anyway, it was a terrific experience, so again, Thanks UPS (Freight.)
