The company looks the other way because it is not expensive and may save manpower. DALPA, initially vocal about it, seems silent. Is it because it has not affected jobs? Yet?
Turn the tables. If a whole small category got together (but only acted as onesy and twosy) and had a sickout/ greenslip campaign in which one person said to another "If you sick out, I will greenslip your trip." Then multiply this across the entire small category where this happened with everyone.
Would the company be up in arms? Would DALPA have to take action? Is there REALLY a difference between trip parking and sickout/greenslip? (beside the pay for trip.)
Just asking, not advocating.
Actually, this happened - see Delta Express pre-9/11. I got there just after the fun ended. NO Delta Express f/o or CA white slipped. Lots of guys were getting bumped for training. There were guys crediting 125-150 hours/month - this was at Express B-scale wages but still they were making some serious coin. Delta Express version of Rolling Thunder - ask some guys (if you can find them) that did it.
