Priorities... do you want to fly for CX or continue to fly Hawgs? Sounds like even though you're getting out, your priority is still to fly Hawgs?
However, volunteering for ANC would probably help you with any of the cargo folks.
How old were your friends who did that? I was actively pursuing the Guard thing too, until I realized that I also really want to fly for an intl carrier one day... The thing with the Guard pilot is that you can't be older than 27 (or was it 30?) by the time they accept you or the day you attend pilot training (or something like that.) And realistically speaking (although I like to remain hopeful) it might be a long shot for me to make it to CX before the cutoff age for the US military. Any ANG/reserves pilot here who's flying for a foreign carrier?
