Many years ago up on BOS, I had a friend who was a LEC rep. up there, and he "never flew" yet he always had an 85 hr. line (or more). At the time, he was not a line holder, but he would bid some of the worst trips as (high time) move ups, like two awful 4 day trips crammed together, get it, get an 85hr. line then drop both trips for 5 days of "office work". My wife would see him in the local coffee shop and ask me, "Why are you always gone, and he's NEVER gone?? And YOU are Senior to HIM!" (by quite a bit).

So after I checked his schedule and saw what he was doing, I called him and asked him about it. I think I said something like, "How do you 'represent' me, if you stay home and get 85 hours a month, and never fly any (crappy) trips??!!"

His answer: "The trips I drop, you might get on a Green Slip, so it's a good thing for the pilot group!"

Yeah...but he never flys, so he feels no 'pain' and when it comes time to ask for MORE, I doubt if his heart is really in it!
