I don't mean this to be an anti-government tirade, if you want that, tune in to AM radio. All I mean to say is that what the previous poster is looking for won't be solved by different rest rules. If labor/management relations are such that management doesn't respect the pilots enough to refrain from haranguing them into flying while unfit, then that issue should be addressed separately from the rules which both sides play by.
Like so many issues these days, people are bringing multiple grievances into the ring, which ends up detracting from the solution by taking the focus away from each specific point and the actions needed to address it. This is all further exacerbated by the vilification of management, big unions, non-union shops, etc. The answers to the questions raised here are incredibly complex and subjective. Anybody who tells you differently is trying to sell you something.
