If you want to work at one of these other regionals, you just have to be persistant. I have spoken via e-mail or phone to recruiters and management pilots at almost every regional in the U.S. Granted the all tell me the same thing, that they can't do anything with me until next year when my DUI is 5 years old but the point is I've gotten personal attention. If it weren't for my situation I'd have a few interviews under my belt, possibly even an airline job. I e-mail whoever I want to work for once a month, sometimes more. And I try to e-mail in the morning when they are presumably just getting in their office. You have to figure that 20 guys sent their resumes in over night, so you want to send yours early in the morning so its the first one they see.
I recieved a job offer from Lakes, but did not take it. I had a great interview experience, everyone was nice, but at the time I only had 21 hours of multi, and they had and still do have a 32 million dollar payment due to Raytheon, due in Oct I think (the info is on their website). I could not risk being furloughed with 21 multi as my current employer finally gave me a multi slot that makes 40K. You being young however may be in a position to take care of the whole 1000 hour multi PIC thing in less than two years with lakes. In my opinion, that may be worth living off ramen noodles for a little while longer.
