It's true. Cops, soldiers, firefighters don't get paid for what they do but for what they might have to do. An important distinction.

Give'em what they deserve. Fine by me. Cost of doing business in an advanced society.

I do believe though what USMC said earlier is correct. Most of these other career fields don't have the "starry eyed kids" begging for the job before they realize what damage they do to the profession and eventually to themselves. Our own worst enemies.
