Our scheduling department operates in crisis management mode at all times as we are severely understaffed.
I would say that is possible during the summer or during major weather events (which with EWR seems to be a cloud in the sky

). However, that is rare, but it does happen. Hence the reason scheduling assigns a call block prior to pairing origination for most B reserves. If a trip is aggressively picked up, it disappears from the open time list so it can't just be taken by someone trying to trip trade or those CAreer opportunists who hope to pad their wallets.
