There are many more police and firefighters in the US than pilots. Of course they will have more deaths than pilots. I have been a volunteer firefighter and small city full time firefighter and to this day do not have a friend or acquaintance that got so much as a scratch on the job.

As a pilot however I lost plenty of friends.
