My understanding is that if they furlough you, then offer you a chance to come back during the remaining time of your original contract, then you're required to come back or pay up*. I can picture a company like Lakes doing it just to get the money from those who will fork it over.
*Of course the legality of actually having to pay it back is another issue.
JS'ed on AA yesterday, FO was a former Lakester...really puts things in perspective about C5 when you hear things about Lakes.
