Work to live man, not the other way around. I was home (mostly unpaid) when both of my kids arrived and it's something I'd do again a hundred times. You can do an extra 4 day here and there and be back to where you were moneywise. Kinda hard to get back the experience of being there when your kid arrives though.
You guessed wrong. Being there for the birth? A definite can't miss event of a lifetime. But going KaliFORN-I-A with the month or more off so daddy can be home is a bit too much IMO; I say after a week do your family duty by getting to work and putting food on the table. What's next, gubment mandated six week holiday's so we can go to the south of France?
