If the UCAL pilots are willing to push for tighter scope (ie no jets over 50 seats) then why aren't we?
This pilot group IS willing. Our union is NOT. Our union rules mandate that we endure a multi-step process of discussions with our regional competitors BEFORE we even give our opener on Section 1 to management. The end of that multi-step process even includes the ALPA president getting involved if our "discussions" with our regional competitors don't prove fruitful.
Belonging to this utterly conflicted union of ALPA is going to be very difficult to make any gains in scope. We will have to fight ALPA every bit as hard as management to even hold the current line on scope. I'm all for the fight, but it's definitely going to be a fight.
