I feel your pain..but I'm sure he went through the same hell to get to where he is now. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. As somebody mentioned, it all depends if you were hired at the beginning of a major boom (like now) or at the beginning of a major depression (like back in 2006/2007).
Looking at some of the lines here at Eagle, there are a number of them which are very posh. No overnights, some with only a few, less than 200 hours TAFB, etc... If you live in base and hold those lines...bingo. You have it made.

Throw in a Captain's salary and things can be great.
