Because no matter how bad it ends up being, it theoretically could have been worse? Wasn't that Leo the Ceo's mantra for why he deserved massive retention bonuses (before he left)?
I can tell you that no rep I know of is going to push for marginal restoration. They may see the environment as difficult, but that does not mean they are going to go against what the pilots want.
