I am more worried about SCOPE and PAY!!!
So he "smiled" at trying to keep UAL "Work" rules... what are some of the other things you found ridiculous and inaccurate? Maybe he was happy that the MEC didn't decide to lean towards the CALs work rules for "higher" wages...
Maybe you received the email because you're on the email list for ALPA, and they are trying to keep you "informed"?
Not taking sides, but trying to be neutral.
Fair question: a couple of other things really stood out. He suggested that Wendy "team" always stayed on the high road, and that the thugs that are terrorizing the MEC are always dragging it into the public view and airing the dirty political laundry. This was right after Genovese's email. I think the video shows that Wendy and her supporters are just at guilty of letting their differences out into the free air. He even SCREAMED it in full caps that she NEVER does those things.
The other one that stuck with me really strongly was his, again capitalized, insistence that Wendy only did what the majority of the MEC wanted, and always followed majority MEC direction. This was right after the special MEC meeting where two resolutions that passed by a majorty (I believe 9-6) were deemed untimely? (might not have been untimely.... Can't remember the exact term) by Wendy. She was able to do this because there wasn't a 2/3 majority. You can support your team, but to post (in caps) two "facts" that had been shown to be inaccurate days before didn't exactly smack with credibility.
I've flown quite frequently with one of these "thugs" on the MEC. I take what he says with some salt, as I know the MEC is a political animal, but the things he says have proved accurate in most cases. The simple fact is, we don't have a contract, we didn't get an equity stake in the new company, and our moment of leverage was lost. All this happened with Wendy at the helm. I think her actions contributed greatly to all these things. Before you flame me for that last statement, go ask how many ALPA reps were parked in the justice department while they were considering this merger. How many did Delta have up there? When did the company stop playing "nice"? **hint, it was the DAY after the DOJ approved the merger. I'm not suggesting that everything could have been done perfectly smoothly, but I do believe it could have been done better. A LOT better. At the very least, we should have been able to negotiate an equity stake, just like DAL did, and just like we did during Ch 11.
