Any reserve pilots out there able to shed some light on the "mandatory rest" day that scheds has to give you for 1 in 7?

For international I suppose it is likely on your rest in the layover

For the domestic dogs do they pick an arbitrary day ahead of time?
Do they wait until day six?
Do they give a random 24 somewhere in the middle?

Any experiences?
