There are plenty of other possibilities why they didn't get hired. I find it hard to believe that the company would go to the effort of interviewing someone knowing they didn't have internal recommendations and then not hire them. From my understanding, after the testing, the job is yours to lose! Also, just having heavy international time, doesn't mean they are the most "in the know". All new hires would have to go through the same aircraft training and the one day international class.

I guess what I am trying to say is don't get discouraged by one partial statistic. Although we as pilots are always grasping for some conspiracy theory to justify current events.
