Do we know for a fact that the union isn't talking with the company right now? Its a totally different group of people running the company than it was 8 months ago. You know its not about constantly taking the opposing side of managment no matter what. Its about knowing when to take a stance on something. People were critical of your MEC because of poor decisions.
Nobody knows if they're talking or not because they choose not to communicate with the people that elected them to their positions. Communication in our union is an absolute joke at best.
