Assuming this is the same woman, as an expert on community hazardous weather preparation, she should be able to read a NWS forecast. Seeing all that horrific, terrifying, potential PTSD causing atmospheric mayhem, she should have seen her flight would be harrowing and postponed the trip.
It's a bit like seeing your buddy drink a case of beer, get in the car with him, and then blame him when he wrecks.
