The MEC rejected the TA which means all negotiations broke down. That doesn't mean that all parties can't come together again and start negotiations back up. AMR will need a new proposal this time...
The sky is not falling folks. Eagle is in a very good position right now. AMR knows it can't replace all of Eagle's flying which is why they were trying to lock us in to that 8 year "deal". They want to have their cake and eat it to.
Luckily the MEC threw it back at them and said NO. The best thing for us now is to wait until 2013 to negotiate a new contract. By that point AMR and other airlines will not have any leverage to strong-arm pilots the way they do now.
They realize this which was the whole reason they attempted to shove this TA down our throats so quickly.
