Well Sir, this is the price of running an Airline Business. Please be advised that the cost of management bonuses will exceed the training cost that AMR will have to endure to this so called upgrades that you would like to restrict. The upgrades required to train the employees who operate the money (who am I kidding) making machine called an Airplane. So please do your self a favor and spend more time researching the cost structure of an airline.
