The article notes that the Army, Navy, and the Air Force are looking to end their dependence on oil, with the USAF "set to certify all of its 40-plus aircraft models to burn fuels derived from waste oils and plants by 2013, three years ahead of target, Air Force Deputy Assistant Secretary Kevin Geiss said." Furthermore, these military test results have been given to commercial airlines and "helped ASTM International, formerly the American Society for Testing & Materials, in July approve the fuels for use in commercial planes."
