My grandfather passed earlier this week. Without going into all the details, everyone I talked to from management was so unbelievably warm, and helpful and their condolences were so sincere, I was slightly taken aback.

While we do have a lot of work to do and a lot of improvements to make, there are a lot of great people who work here, which makes this a great place to be. I'll leave it at that.
I have to second that sentiment. Mid trip I get a phone call about my 10 y/o in the hospital and my wife is doing what she can to hold down the fort until I can get home. My Captain overheard my conversation and new I needed to leave. He called the duty pilot and a deadheading pilot took my last leg to PHL and then next flight home already had me booked in the JS (flt was full) I had no less than 4 to 5 phone calls from DL asking if there was anything I needed and if any family members needed to be with us just ask and they would set it up. Upon arrival I had three more messages from my CP, LAX FOM and the duty pilot making sure all was good. I too was taken by surprise at the level of compassion and understanding by everyone involved. ALl worked out fine and it was made easier by a family of people who stepped in when my family and I needed it most.

Now when I hear people talk about how the company can careless, I try to share my story but it is not appropriate in all cases. The anonymous machine in ATL my seem lacking at times but the people on the other end are good and do care and if they needed my help I would do whatever I could to help.
