Who told you none of the money is going to Qantas? Did it occur to you that these companies might just have relationships which helps Qantas while they park their airplanes?
The typical Qanta pax if ultimately taken care of may not think any thing of it if minorily inconvenienced.
Typically when an airline work group strikes, they want the competition to poach as much revenue and market share from the company they are striking. Not sure about any murky tertiary issues like "strike insurance" and/or some kind of revenue sharing as you brought up though. The article basically said Virgin Australia was looking into their partners to pick up the Qantas slack. That in and of itself would be good for the Qantas work groups because it would put ever increasing pressure on their current and future bottom line as long as revenue wasn't shared with Qantas over it.
