I whole heartedly agree with AirTrans decisions... can you even imagine what type of crap the gate agents had to go through after the family was taken off? I accept the guidelines of traveling non-rev and I keep my mouth shut... but at what point will this end? I had yogurt dumped all over me by a four year old commuting to work about four and a half months ago and after having spent some time thinking I cannot understand how parents can think that letting their children run amuck on the aircraft is safe, respectful, and in good taste for not only themselves but the other passengers on board. I say overhead bins are there for a reason... and if the situation calls for it... use them properly!
