I will give CA the benefit of the doubt. However, if a guy attempts to or does show up at work intoxicated, he has a problem. HIMS is a great program, and so is at least performing a little CRM and giving the guy an out. You never want to see a fellow aviators career washed down the drain. Even if that crewmember has made a bad decision. Use all available outs until there are none left. It's disheartening to read comments that come across as, "he's a big boy, not MY problem."

I almost forgot. I realize not every crewmember is a trained Drug Abatement Program manager, but there are cues other than breath that indicate intoxication. An easy one - bloodshot eyes, comes to mind.
