Aren't you getting useless PIC time? I did 4 years of instructing at a descent wage also, among other types of flying. I held out for a "good" regional with a descent contract to make more money sitting right seat. I kick back, eat my snacks, shoot the **** with the CA's, and collect bigger checks and enjoy better benefits. No one promised a fast upgrade and when it happens it happens.
That's good, I'm glad you held out for a "good regional". More pilots should be doing that. I'm holding out too, I just found a better place to sit tight at.
My point i'm trying to make is that most pilots complain about pay. Yet, they chase Jet time and turbine time. Wait a second you want to get paid well right? Then get paid well now doing whatever it is your doing. Why are you waiting 10 years down the road in hopes of getting paid well. Demand the decent wage now or find work somewhere else until they pony up the bucks.
