Really, they want proficiency, not just currency. IFR current is much different than proficient in my eyes. I've seen and talked to applicants who did as little as they could and showed up to class with IFR currency as of "x" number of months ago and failed miserably in the sim. Unfortunately, "current" doesn't cut it hand flying a 1900 sim or EMB sim while learning callouts, memory items, and procedures. If I had any suggestions, show up IFR current AND proficient. Hop in a sim (ms flight sim even) and make sure you scan is top notch. Even basic sim time will get your scan where it is needed to succeed in training.
As far as going out of business, don't count on it. Sorry to dissapoint some of you. I guess us "bottom feeders" just keep on screwing up your industry, huh?
