I had a sit down with him in 2001ish for a P-Check. I asked him about recapturing 70 seat scope. His replied was that the current economics (pay, retirement, medical, ...) do not work financially for DAL pilots to fly a jet of that size and "besides, what pilot would like to come to Delta from the military or regional to fly a 70 or 50 seat jet."
