As I recall, The Union was attempting to be proactive just prior to the Infamous Perfect Storm, 4 A 2 B period, the Financial Meltdown, All remaining DC-10s parked as well as few 727's plus Age 65 all happening at once, Failed bids, cancelled bids and domiciles, Re-bids with software problems and excess bids.

The Union proffered an LOA to the Company labeled "the Global Solution"
At a Union meeting I attended, JG briefed the Pilots on this proposal. The Union's offer gave the 777 to the Company at WB rates. I don't know if this had an affect on the later arbitration outcome.
JG briefed there was an attempt to capture an INTL override for block over 8hrs which would have helped the MD11 as well. Had the Company agreed to the proposal, it would have come to us as a vote for that LOA, to have been for the 777 to pay Wide body rates, not more than what they are now. Of course as Usual, the Company says "Forgettaboutit " and gets what they want without giving us anything in return.
