Your best bet is to do some sort of self employed part time occupation that caters to a mobile life style - real estate, loan officer, insurance, consulting (computers, etc). You can schedule appointments in a lot of those areas on your off days while still working on the road (cell phone, lap top) on the exciting layovers or while you're on call while on reserve. I think in the airline environment it is essential to have a side job to build extra income, take advantage of numerous write offs by owning your own business and keep busy on layovers. I'm sorry I didn't start my business sooner so I had something to fall back on when I got furloughed (except for Cargo and SWA - those that have and those that will).
