But are you sitting reserve in PA for LGA/JFK though?
I mean we should ask ourselves where should NYC reserve pilots sit SC reserve? Closer to EWR or closer to JFK/LGA where the vast majority of their flights will be? Or in the city, since you could go either way very quickly? Forgive my grammar as it was a bit off the idea was specifically for short call.
But, to me it would be just as fair for someone sitting SC in NJ to be transported to JFK/LGA from EWR as it would be for the reverse.
Just trying to make it less hell for all of those being displaced into NYC. Many of whom living in base, as a few non-commuters demand, and now they are commuting to cover 3 bases that are far apart and expensive to cover for not a dime more than if they were ATL, DTW, MSP, SEA or SLC based.
Or how about this - we could add a stipend for NYC based crews, no?
I don't think that's unfair and I don't plan to go there anytime soon for any reason. Just looking out for those who do. But I think that base deserves it. You can even say it's only for reserve pilots to help cover the costs of moving back and forth across the Verrazano bridge on short notice.
So there, option C: A stipend for NYC reserve pilots. $1000/mo. You want to be NYC centric, then pay up, damn place is expensive.
BTW, when it comes to hotels I do know that for some management employees at DAL they can have work in the city for several days but the company will not pay for a hotel inside the city. DALPA may.

Not the company though. I'm sure they want to cut that bill and that sucks because I love NYC
long overnights.
