NO PILOT HIRING ANTICIPATED IN 2012
Planned pilot hours are down in 2012 and we do not anticipate hiring during the next 12 months. However, we
are aware of the impending wave of pilots who will reach age 65 in the next 5-15 years and we are
continuously analyzing the situation. One point of interest is that among the domestic legacy carriers Delta has
the highest pilot average age. Crew Resources is working closely with Flight Training to identify our maximum
new-hire throughput in order to develop a long-term hiring plan. We are aware that this issue is not exclusive to
Delta and is both a domestic and worldwide industry issue and as such we will be competing for a limited pool
of qualified pilots.
