Yes I do sit short call for JFK and LGA. I bid into the 737 when then had EWR trips, now they are none. That may change, and I am hoping it does. As for the short call, I am within the guidelines of being reasonably available to any of the NYC bases. EWER just happens to be closest for me...1 .3 hours.
Shortcall is readily or promptly available. Long call is reasonably available. I think in NYC and LA both, the S/C interpretation is "hey, I'm doing the best I can."
