Here's my $.02 on the whole "White Pages" thing. Unless you're a legacy UAL 756 or 777 pilot you can't truly appreciate how different our procedures are from each other. My understanding is that legacy CAL's changes are minimal compared to what we've had to learn. I personally have no problem learning the "CAL or Boeing way". The problem is entirely how I was trained. I've worked for rinky-dink commuters and dirt-bag freight operators who had far better training than what the "new United" gave me. Having only performed these procedures a handful of times (756 reserve and I don't fly much) I'm conducting "on the job training" everytime I fly. No kidding, my first go at the new procedures was last month on a rainy low-vis night approach into BOS with a 20 knot crosswind. I'm sorry but that is not the time to be "practicing" entirely new callouts, flows, and checklists. So if you're a legacy CAL guy don't take the whole "white pages" thing personally. However, If you had anything to do with this B.S. method of training...then by all means TAKE IT PERSONALLY!! IT REALLY SUCKS!!!
