When I asked the DAL ATL International Chief Pilot if/when we might be getting any more 777's, he said he was in a meeting (6mo. ago) with Management, the subject of new, big airplanes came up. Richard said, "Nope, Boeing wants $262 Million each for a new 777, and we don't need them right now anyway."
Richard also said he was "...happy with our widebody fleet as it is..." and they were focused on paying down debt, not buying new airplanes. So, there you go. Oh, and you know the 100 new 737-900's are REPLACEMENT jets, to replace the older 757's.
This is old news, the same stuff we've been hearing for a year. And the 737-900ERs are replacing SOME of the older 757's as well as older 320's and the DC9's that are being parked.
