Perhaps US Airways learned their lesson from that and are hesitant to give people false hope. Please note, they did honor all the poolies from '07/'08 eventually, even saving spots for those that needed to finish contracts they had signed for jobs they took while waiting for a class date.

A friend of mine told me that the flight department wants to hire approximately 300/year for at least the next three years, but they haven't gotten approval from the accounting people yet to do so. It's well known that there are many retirements looming, but there is also the chance of a merger which may complicate hiring plans. Who knows? They do estimate resuming classes around March of next year, so it's a good guess to say that anyone in a pool right now could expect to go to training sometime in the early spring. There is also much speculation that they will be getting the ten E-190's that they gave to Republic back sometime in the next year or so, which may necessitate more hiring as well.

Hope this helps.

Everyone had heard 2nd quarter for hiring, but then they just called the poolies for 1/9/2012 class. Now if there's a gap between that class and the 2nd quarter hiring is yet to be seen.
