What I'm trying to figure out is when exactly I have to start looking for an apartment. I will not be commuting at all, and will move to and live at whatever base I get.
During initial training, the company will put you up in a hotel, no matter where it is, if they need you to be there before or after any particular trip sequence. Think of it this way: during new hire initial training (which includes IOE), if you are not at your home, they will put you up in a hotel.
Once you finish IOE, and complete your move days, only THEN are you considered to be based at XXX base. Once that happens, you are on your own if not on a trip.
Best of luck to you.
