I would very much like for a current GoJetter to come on here and point out one time when their union leaders (management cronies, last I heard) went to bat for a pilot. IIRC, the last time someone at GoJet tried to open lines of communication with Waterskiers' ALPA representatives, they were swiftly sacked. Someone with a better memory than mine can tell that story in its entirety.
carl,
your rhetoric is pointless. bashing gojet hasn't helped you up to this point and believe me, it's never going to. everybody at the company knows that the union is pointless. people on the street know that and come to the company anyway, despite your repeated attempts to advise them otherwise. unbelievably, most grown-ups can make their own decisions and don't wait for blessings from an internet board.
not too long ago, you were considering making the switch, until one of your buddies 'opened your eyes'. make sure you send that guy a bottle of single malt for steering you in the right direction. if he's got any portfolio advice, send it my way.
gojet may leave a lot to be desired, but trans states does as well. the performance is typically horrible, the pilots are miserable, captains have been downgraded, FO's hired in 2007/8 are still on reserve, and some are on their way to a second furlough at what was supposed to be an entry level 121 job. i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that gojet is probably a more pleasant place to work, despite the union's failure to effectively lead.
be a man and stop being so emotional with your decisions. you might be happier.
