I can see where your coming from...I just started going to this flight school and everyone from private pilots to CFI's walk around the place like were in "Top Gun" training. I got tired of trying to be mr. nice guy and freindly. The expericece has opened my eyes and made me wonder what kind of arrogant jerks I may meet on the career path to the airlines. I worked at a class B airport for 5 years and it seems like the old timers that fly the heavies have alot more class and are alot more approachable.
And when those CFIs and Students become old timers they will, most of them atleast, will be like the old timers today. When people are near the bottom of the "food chain" they will be more on guard, more cocky, more out to prove themselves, its just a fact of life. Once you start racking up time, and you become more confident, you do not have the urge to prove yourself as much, you dont have to be cocky, because you are confident. Its how things are.
