I do wish it had never happened. And I don't mean anything derogatory about NWA either. I just think we had a good business plan and would have been better off all this time actually focusing on running the best airline possible (instead of having to focus on all the complexities of a ginormous merger) and growing internally.
But having said that. All the wishing in the world isn't going to undo it. I completely agree that we need to go forward with the intention of making this the best airline on the planet.
I only point out the anti-merger stuff because I don't want to see us make the same mistakes in judgment with our next contract that we made in evaluating the JPWA (and ever since BK really). Our focus needs to be clear. And it needs to be on restoring the standard of living our pay provides to us and our families, and on reversing the outsourcing and getting our flying back. When we acted like we just won the lottery because we got what amounts to a COLA to our bankruptcy/emergency rates, we sent the wrong message and IMO helped to undermine our ability to get the restorative gains we need going forward.
