If you are awarded assignment pay because a trip was incorrectly assigned you get double pay for the trip flown. Its always worth a call to see if DALPA feels you have a case. The contract admin guys are very good and they have the same computer access as crew scheduling. They can view the exact trip assignment history and reconstruct exactly what happened.

What Sailing says is spot on.
In my opinion crew scheduling will generally try and follow the contract, but they will ignore it if in a jam and sometimes they just plain make mistakes.
But the terms are part of our contract. If you just let them "get away with it", they will.
However, if pilots hold scheduling's feet to the fire they will pay more attention as it'll cost them when they make mistakes. Delta does not like paying out extra money because of errors by crew scheduling.
