Provided the guy you work for is decent, then union is not needed. Unfortunately not the case in many circumstances.

On another note, this job just popped up and I see there are several guys who seem to be in the known for this flight department. My question is, What is the pay?? How many guys are crewed /plane and therefore what is the companies view on pilot monthly utilization i.e 18 days/month.
