Sometimes I think flight attendants make crap up. They always stress on the announcement that your phones cannot be put in "airplane mode". I have yet to find out where it says that you cannot put your phone in airplane mode. I can turn my phone off but it will still ring if it's not in airplane mode. Y'all are missing the point. It has nothing to do with airplane mode, it's the fact that it's an electronic device and needs to be turned off. 70% of general passengers and some flight crew think that their phone is no longer an electronic device when in airplane mode. Therefore the FA's have to dumb it down and say "no airplane mode" in addition to "no electronic devices"
