If they hire you, you will be wearing a "suit" everyday that you go to work. I'm not saying how you dress is any reflection on your skills, but it says alot about your attitude. I would question the applicant that didn't put forth the effort to wear a suit to the interview, just my opinion though.
I hate to say this but he's right. skills are easy to come by but attitude is not. I'd take attitude over skills any day. Skills you can teach...
